This week we start the process of applying a new finish to the wooden boom and mizzen mainsheet traveler. This finish is called Awlwood MA which is a 2 part system for finishing brightwork. It starts with a primer coat and then multiple coats of a clear finish.
The local chandlery has some test pieces with this product on it on the roof of their building to show its ability to withstand the southern US heat and UV rays.
We also run into a problem with our Marine Air (CruiseAir, Dometic) air conditioner on our other boat. (Last Affair). The blower motor ended up being bad and in this video, we show the repair of that as well as how we upgraded and improved the condensation management from the air conditioner.
Mermaid makes a “Condensator” which is a small venturi pump, check valve and filter that sucks condensation water out of the drain pan and expels it with the discharge water from the cooling circulation lines.
Click here for free tools and worksheets for planning and scheduling this job if you do the project yourself. The worksheet allows you to plan and track the work and we also include all the specification and application sheets for the products.
