MardiGras Week
The Week of Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a State celebration. So much so that school is out for a week in Lousiana during the week of Fat Tuesday. So we use it as a second Spring Break. We decided to go look for Florida waterfront property instead of marina fees.
Heading to Florida
We load up the girls, hook up the camper and head to the West Coast of Florida.
Property Search Begins
We are still entertaining this idea of being in Florida with the boat and we are thinking that buying waterfront property may be better than throwing half that money away toward slip rent. Join us as we look in Hudson, New Port Richey, Apollo Beach, Tampa, Clearwater, Gulfport, Placida, Don Pedro Island, Port Charlotte, Burnt Store, Punta Gorda and other areas along a 2 hour stretch of the West coast of Florida.
Placido
Placido – The property we originally looked at was a listing for a lot only on sailboat depth canal with no bridges. You have to take a Ferry to get to the b
Attributes
- Close to ICW,
- Ferry to get to Barrier island where
property is (no bridge) - South on ICW, there is a swing bridge to get into Charlotte
Habror - Can also go out to Gulf south from ICW (Without going through swing bridge) of Boca Grande Causeway
- Location of Lot
Port Charlotte
- This area is interesting but I can’t tell the depth for sure. According to Sonar
Charts it may only be 3 feet deep which would not work, but the area has a lot of homes and lots in it. Worth looking. - By way of example here is a lot that is $120K with a bulkhead and
pilons . - Chinook Way
Near Myakka river
- Good location, need to see if depth would be good enough
- Schoefield Road – Check Location
- Nettle 14554 Frizzell Road – Port
charlotte (has Sailboat in lot now, need to know depth)
Port Charlotte Area
- Need to check depth coming from Charlotte Harbor.
- Here Is one of the addresses. 18318 Kerrville Cir, Port Charlotte
- 18286 Arapahoe Cir, Port Charlotte
In the attached video, we will show you the property, nautical charts, water depths, deals to be had and what became a mind-numbing experience we needed to take a break from.
