Releasing your Inner Redneck

Did you ever do one of those things that just reminded you of your inner redneck? As soon as we did, we realized that there should be banjo’s playing in the background?

Why release your inner redneck?

We needed to charge the battery on our little Mule. This is a side by side, 4×4 diesel vehicle that we use when we are camping and stuff. We had a golf cart and loved having that for tooling around by the marina and in town in the past. The location we are at now made it very difficult to charge and we finally decided we would go for non-electric.

We tried to push this thing but it is HEAVY. The 4×4 makes it a little hard to push as you are turning a lot of ‘stuff’ when you do. I hooked a rope up to the truck hitch and the front push bumper of the mule and towed it from its dry storage parking to a parking spot close to our slip. We needed it close enough to be able to get the extension cord to the charger.

With it pulled close to the spot it was now just time to push it back into the spot. NOPE! Not happening. Deb and I both pushed and weren’t able to move it at all. I think I have a tie rod that is a bit worn which doesn’t help as the front right tire wasn’t quite straight when the left one was. This made it even harder. But wait, I had a bright idea.

“Hey Bubba, Hold my Beer!”

If those fenders for the boat keep our 58,000 pound boat off the dock, I think I know what I can put between the truck and the mule to push it without scratching my nice truck. Yep, a boat fender. So I tied it to the front of the mule and away we went. It didn’t push easy as I was being very careful not to rub the big push bumper of the mule onto the back lift gate of the SUV.

But it worked. That is what matters here. 🙂

See the Video of this debacle here as well as others. That way you can see how funny it was. My boat neighbors were watching which made it just worse. They were kind enough to grab the camera for us though. Even they didn’t want to miss this minute of redneck gold.
