The Difference between Memorial and Veterans Day
What does Memorial Day mean to you? Do you. know the difference between Veterans day and Memorial day?
All gave some, Some gave all.
These two small sentences sum a lot of thoughts into just six simple words. It is immensely powerful to me, and I can’t imagine how much more powerful those words are to someone who lost a family member in service to all of us and our country.
I spent some time sharing the meaning of Memorial day with Swabby on our little date to Starbucks mobile pickup station yesterday. It dawned on me that she, nor Chazzy at 14 really understood the holiday. It allowed us to talk about sacrifice, meaning, believing with all your conviction in something, and the combined benefit and support of the rest of the community. I know it can be a heavy discussion for a little one, but I was, for some reason, more moved this year by inner thoughts this Memorial Day versus years past.
How do you celebrate Memorial day
Don’t get me wrong, it is still an excellent day for a barbeque, and I do enjoy the long weekend. At 3pm local time on Memorial Day, I will stop whatever I am doing for a moment of silence for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. This is always chilling to me, but it is a good reminder and is instantly recognizable at its first musical note.
